Karen L. Silva
Karen L. Silva received her Bachelor of Arts in English, cum laude, from Boise State University in 1990 and was an officer and member of Sigma Tau Delta, an English Honors Society. Ms. Silva attended the College of Idaho completing coursework towards a Masters degree in Counseling before attending law school. She earned her juris doctorate from the University of Idaho in 1996, where she was a Langroise Scholarship recipient. During law school she received appellate and trial advocacy training as an intern with the University of Idaho's clinical law program, along with mediation and alternative dispute resolution training. Ms. Silva was a 1995 NAPIL Summer Rural Legal Corps Fellowship recipient working with Idaho Legal Aid Services serving low-income and migrant farm workers throughout southern Idaho.
Ms. Silva is a former law clerk to the Honorable Gerald L. Weston of the Third Judicial District for the state of Idaho. She is a member of the Idaho State Bar Association and is the Idaho state coordinator for the Woman Advocate Committee of the Litigation section of the American Bar Association. In addition, Ms. Silva is involved in community activities which include the high school mock trial competition sponsored by the Idaho Law Foundation and volunteer work at the Idaho Humane Society. Ms. Silva has concentrated her practice in the areas of general civil litigation, family and domestic law including adoptions.
